Step 1 – Install marking toolsInsert a small pencil into the body of one of the trammel heads and tighten the clamping nut to secure it in place. The other trammel head should have the steel point installed. |

Step 2 – Clamp trammel headsClamp your trammel heads onto the beam. They should be separated by the same distance as the radius of the circle you will be drawing. E.g. If the diameter of the circle is 30cm, its radius will be 15cm (30÷2=15). |

If you are using a beam with a measuring scale, you will easily be able to move the second trammel head to the correct position. If not, use a ruler or measuring tape to check the distance between the trammels. | |||
|
Step 3 – Position trammel heads on workpiecePosition the the steel point of the trammel head where you would like the centre of the circle to be. The trammel head with the pencil will be positioned ready to start drawing the circle. |

Step 4 – Pivot trammel headsHolding the first trammel head, carefully pivot the trammel head with the pencil around in a single motion |

Step 5 – Draw circleContinue this motion until you have completed the circle. |
