Tin snips (also known as tin snips, tinner snips and shears) are hand tools specifically designed to cut sheet metal. Tin snips look similar to common scissors, however, they are much stronger and allow control for precise cutting.
Tin snips can vary in appearance and purpose, but are usually defined by short blades and long handles, which allow for extra cutting strength. They can range from 180 – 360mm (7.1-14.2″ approx.) in length.
Tin snips usually have extra wide jaws to help make cutting easier and more precise.
