Take hold of your automatic locking Mole grips/locking pliers in one hand, with the fixed handle and jaw on top, and the ends of the handles facing towards you.
Step 2 – Grasp object with Mole grips
Grasp and hold an object between the jaws of the grips/pliers. Close the handles and listen for the “snap” that they should make when the pressure is right. If you don’t hear a “snap” you will need to adjust the pressure using the tension screw.
Step 3 – Adjust tension screw on Mole grips
Hold the grips/pliers in one hand and adjust the tension screw with your other hand by turning it clockwise to increase the grip of the jaws on smaller or thinner objects, or anti-clockwise to loosen the grip of the jaws on larger or thicker objects.
Step 4 – Reapply automatic Mole grips
Now grasp the object again, closing the handles together until they “click”.
Step 5 – Release lever on Mole grips
To release the automatic Mole grips/locking pliers, pull at the end of the release lever with one or two fingers of the same hand that is holding the grips/pliers, using an upwards motion.
Step 6 – Release automatic Mole grips
Once the release lever is activated, the handles of the automatic Mole grips/locking pliers will open wide and the jaws will release their grip on the object.
Step 7 – Move on to next object
You can now move straight on to the next, differently-sized object without having to adjust the grips/pliers again.
The pressure exerted by the jaws of automatic Mole grips/locking pliers remains the same until another adjustment of the tension screw is made.
