Under-vehicle inspection mirrors are much larger than other inspection mirrors and are used to check the entire underside of vehicles. They can also be used to check the tops of vehicles.
These tools have a convex mirror, which is curved outwards and can show a wider view compared to a flat mirror.
What sizes are they available in?
Under-vehicle inspection mirrors are available in a number of different lengths. They are available unextended from 25cm (9″) to 65cm (25″) and from 100cm (37″) to 200cm (78″) extended.
What shapes are available?
These tools are available with either a round or square mirror head, although the round head is more common.
The round head is available in sizes from 230mm (9″) to 450mm (65″).
The square mirror head is available in two sizes: 200mm (7.8″) x 400mm (15.7″) and 170mm (7″) x 350mm (14″).
LED lights
Under-vehicle inspection mirrors are often used with a torch to help illuminate the underside of cars. Some mirrors, however, have LED lights fitted to the mirror face.
Are there any attachments available?
Some under-vehicle inspection mirrors are available with a tri-wheel base. This consists of three wheels that can be attached to the underside of the mirror face to allow the user to roll the mirror along the floor. This would be most advantageous if using for long periods of time.
If the under-vehicle inspection mirror does not have LED lights already fitted, a torch is often used. Many inspection mirrors have a torch clip fitting already attached to the handle shaft so the torch can be easily slotted in.
