A file card brush contains a number of metal bristles set in a rectangle, also known as a ‘card’, which is where the tool gets its name. 

 

There are two different types of file card brushes available, single and double sided.

 

The double sided file card brush contains wire bristles on one side and a brush on the opposite one.

A file card brush is used to clean a file to ensure longer life and efficiency. 

 

A file is a hand tool used in metalwork, woodwork and plastic work. It is used to remove small pieces of material from a workpiece. 

 

Material shavings and other gunk becomes clogged up in the teeth of the file.

 

If the teeth become clogged then the file will not work as effectively.

File card brushes can be used on wood and metal-working files.

 

A file card brush and a wire brush look similar, with both types of brushes being used to clean and remove dirt.

 

A file card brush contains more wire bristles that are closer together.

 

The bristles on a wire brush are softer and often fewer than on a file card. That is how you tell the difference between a file card brush and a wire brush
