There are a several bricklaying accessories and aids used in conjunction with a brick line. Below is a guide to some of the most commonly used.
Line pins
Line pinsare simple metal pins or spikes that can be pushed into the earth or between bricks and a line held tautly between them.
Line blocks
Line blocksare specially shaped blocks, typically made from plastic, though there are metal and wooden varieties.
Pin spools
Many brick lines can be purchased on a spool or reel. A pin spool has a rotating spool for ease of use when letting out the line. It also has the advantage of having a spike or “pin” that allows you to push it into soft earth when laying out. The pin doubles as a handle when letting out the line.
Line levels
A line level is essentially a small spirit level that can be hooked onto a string line to see if it is horizontally flat (level) or not.
